Where is Sweet Cheeks based?
We’re proudly based in Wānaka, New Zealand! All our products are made right here with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Do you have a physical shop?
Nope — we’re an online-only shop. That means we can keep things simple, small-batch, and ship straight to your door. You can choose to pick your order up at the Sweet Cheeks Workshop if you are in Wānaka.
Are your products safe for sensitive skin?
Yes! Our formulas are gentle and designed to soothe and protect, but if you have very sensitive skin, patch test first (just to be safe).
How do I prevent chafing?
Chafing isn't fun! Apply a thin layer of Sweet Cheeks Butt Butter or Anti-Chafe Stick anywhere you feel friction before activity. Reapply as needed during long sessions or in hot weather.
Is Butt Butter a chamois cream or an anti-chafe cream?
Great question! We’ve built our product to do both. In cycling-terms it works like a chamois cream — creating a barrier in high-friction zones like the saddle + pad area. But it also functions like a general anti-chafe cream: you can use it on thighs, underarms, between legs, under gear, or anytime skin rubs skin/gear. So whether you’re out on a long ride, hiking the hills, or wearing shorts all day, we’ve got your “sweet cheeks” covered.
I’m not a cyclist — my thighs just rub when I walk or run. How can I prevent thigh chafing?
Sweet Cheeks is made for every body, not just bikers. If your thighs, underarms, or other spots rub during running, walking, or daily life, a swipe of our Butt Butter or Anti-Chafe Stick will keep things smooth, comfy, and rash-free. No more sting, burn, or awkward waddle — just sweet, happy skin.
Is chafing the same as saddle sores?
Not quite — chafing is surface irritation, while saddle sores are deeper, inflamed spots caused by bacteria and prolonged friction. Preventing chafing is your best defence against saddle sores. Butt Butter is anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti microbial - great for preventing saddle sores.
Can I use Sweet Cheeks products anywhere on my body?
Absolutely. Inner thighs, underarms, nipples, feet — wherever you need protection from rubbing, we’ve got your back (and your butt).
Why do you use beeswax and not lanolin or petroleum?
We use pure New Zealand beeswax because it’s natural, breathable, and creates a protective barrier that lets your skin heal — without clogging pores or feeling greasy. Beeswax also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which help soothe irritation and prevent chafing from getting worse.
Lanolin (from sheep’s wool) and petroleum jelly (a by-product of oil refining) can block pores and trap heat and bacteria — not ideal for hot, sweaty adventures or sensitive skin. Beeswax, on the other hand, locks in moisture *and* lets your skin breathe, making it perfect for cyclists, runners, and everyday movers who want smooth, happy skin without the stickiness.
Help I got a Butt Butter Refill pack but how do I use it?
Our eco refill packs are designed to reduce waste and keep your cheeks happy without tossing another jar or plastic tub. Make sure your original Butt Butter jar is clean and dry (a quick wash in warm, soapy water works great). Snip the corner of your refill pouch and gently squeeze the Butt Butter into your jar. Store any leftovers sealed and out of direct sunlight.
